DC Legal is the name of my blog.  I am David Crawley and am a Solicitor and Partner at Davis Woolfe.  I specialise in dealing with cycling-related cases.  I act for clients all over the UK and sometimes abroad.  I have considerable experience in dealing with cases involving life-changing injuries and have a dedicated team of litigators who support me.  I relish dealing with challenging cases and my experience as a racing cyclist gives me a unique perspective.  I am passionate about helping my clients with their recovery from serious injury.

I have acted for the full spectrum of the cycling community from recreational cyclists and weekend warriors to a Tour de France yellow jersey. 

I have also advised professional agents, teams, cycle manufacturers, shops, distributors and event organisers on a range of matters.

I have been cycling as long as I can remember and have always built and maintained my own bikes.  I started out riding BMX as a kid in the early 80s.  I took up mountain biking in 1987 and raced in the carefree early days of mountain biking in the UK. Legal studies and injury kept me from racing for much of the 90s, but I returned to competition in 1999 and got some decent results in the mountain bike marathon events.  I started doing more road riding at the time and started competing in time trials and the odd road race.  I discovered that I could get good results against the clock on the fairly limited training that busy legal practice allowed me, so focused on time trials for much of my racing career.  Career highlights are taking the silver medal at the World Master’s Time Trial Championship in Denmark in 2015, a couple of category wins at the Tour of Cambridgeshire TT, a medal at the CTT National Circuit Championships and sneaking ahead of Bradley Wiggins in the All Time Fastest 10-mile TT list with a 17:54.  I still compete in time trials and took three open wins in the 2021 season.

I have commuted by bike for much of my professional career.  While the focus of my racing is very much on racing against the clock, I have also ridden the track, cycle toured, done reliability trials, BMX, XC, and road raced and have a fat bike that I hope to put to use in one of the crazy Dutch beach races or the World Fat Bike Championships.
